Restaurant Athen in Wittmund

Got us Greek food: the gyros is very greasy and hardly edible. The souvlaki was very dry and also not enjoyable. It's a shame about the money.

Also a good idea outside the home (collection). Already ordered several times for family celebrations. Everyone was thrilled.

From 5 stars to 2 (edited review): We have now ordered to be picked up in the new year (2021) and were unfortunately disappointed for the first time. One dish was ordered without fries and without side dishes, but with fried onions. Unfortunately even the rice was missing and instead of the fried onions there were lush onion rings. In addition, there was an extra charge of 2 € for a dish that already cost 17 € and you even did without chips and salad. The second dish was a gyros, which unfortunately was very burnt in places and sometimes even half raw pieces were inside. We will not order any more to collect it, as we were unfortunately very disappointed. Maybe we will eat again on site after the lockdown, as it was very good on site. For this reason, in fairness I am leaving the original review as it is, unfortunately I can no longer pronounce the five stars. Unfortunately, card payment was still not possible. Original review: We made reservations, but then had to change the time, that wasn't a problem. In good weather you can sit in front of the restaurant and eat, or inside, of course. We found ourselves in a cozy atmosphere and were served quickly. The menu includes Greek, Italian and Indian dishes. If you think that the quality of three different kitchens is suffering, I can reassure you: all dishes have tasted very good so far, from pizza to Bifteki to Indian curry! After taking the order there was the side salad after 5 minutes, after about 10 minutes the main course was also there. And what arrived was really awesome: a plate with a really HUGE portion. Perfect fries, perfect tomato rice and fantastic meat. The meat was juicy and tender, everything tasted wonderfully good to us. Since we couldn't finish everything, packing up wasn't a problem, but you have to do it yourself because of corona and existing hygiene regulations. All in all, an absolutely good price for the quality, portion size and taste. There are full 5 stars and a clear recommendation. Note: card payment was not possible during our visit, it is best to ask briefly when making a reservation.

Simply SUPER. Indian and Greek food can only be recommended. We haven't tried the others yet. Service more than friendly. If you are not satisfied here, it is your own fault. We would love to come back! :-)

Writing about food is always a bit difficult because it is all about individual taste. I liked it and the portions were more than enough! (4 person plate) I can only write about the ambience, there is room for improvement. The restaurant was once called 'Zum Anker', so you can already imagine what it looks like inside. The maritime mixed with a bit of Bollywood describes it very well.

I order there so often and each time I get something different than what I order. The food is good, but that's about it. I will change the Greek.

Yesterday we went there for the first time on recommendation. We were immediately greeted warmly. Had decided on a Greek 2 person plate. First there was a delicious salad. Everything was fresh, nicely presented and also totally delicious, the dressing was good too. After a short wait ... we were still at the salad, then came our plate with the side dishes. Everything is plentiful, meat is tender and also super tasty. The portion was mega, we are good eaters, but we didn't quite make the plate either. In between, the waitress asked whether everything was okay and whether we would like it. We could only say yes. When we were finished, we were allowed to pack the rest of it. It's just too bad if it had to be thrown away. In terms of price, it was completely okay. So all in all a nice evening with super delicious food. We would also like to mention that the Athens was well attended for a Monday and during the time we were there, a lot of out-of-home orders were picked up. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely be eating there again. Then we also try the Indian cuisine. Keep it up. Also in terms of hygiene, as soon as guests had left the restaurant, everything was disinfected and the waitresses wore their mouthguards the whole time. So everything is great and we will definitely be pampered there again.

Generous portions, you don't need a starter. You can eat everything there, it's really great. We were here 2 times and not the last time. Great service, nice and courteous. 5 stars 🌟 are not enough :)

We went to eat there two days on the weekend. The food was very good. We ate Indian and Greek. Both days the food was just outstanding. The cook knows his trade. We can only recommend it. Hence 5 stars for the food. Why only 3 stars, because we noticed on both days that the Corona measures are being observed. There are disinfectants on the door and the cleanliness is very good. But on both days we had to find out that only one waitress was wearing both mask and gloves. She was very friendly and the distance from her was maintained. Neither the boss of the house nor the other waitresses wore gloves. Not nice for us personally. Our greatest praise goes to the waitress who wore gloves and a mask even in the hot temperatures. Unfortunately she didn't serve us but we wanted to mention this anyway.

Delicious and great selection of food. 4 types of cuisine: Indian, Italian, Greek and even cocoa. The cleanliness of the toilet could be better.

Good and tasty portions in a simple and pleasant ambience, at fair prices, friendly staff, who explicitly adhere to the applicable hygiene rules. Can be visited well with children.

From the choice of dishes multicultural. Greek, Italian, Indian and German, there is something for everyone. We had a delicious lunch and the special offers of the lunch table are unbeatable in terms of price. In addition, friendly and attentive staff, what more could you want. Highly recommended.
